The brandingistoric.ro website is the product of a postdoctoral research on “The tradition of social responsibility of banking institutions. Romanian banks in Banat and Crișana (1900-1914) / History, branding and social responsibility ”, made during 2020 at the University of Bucharest.

The objectives we set ourselves by creating this site are:

  • to capitalize, for the benefit of the private environment, on the documentation work carried out in recent years in various libraries and archives, to promote products, create or consolidate brands. This would be possible through consultancy services related to the past, age and traditions related to certain products (for example, the use of historical information to promote wines).
  • to promote the charitable activities done in the past by various persons or companies, Romanian banks from Banat and Crișana, which contributed to the progress of the Romanian society at the beginning of the 20th century. Presenting information from the past can provide current companies with examples of good practice, so that they can be inspired about how they can also get involved in social development and, at the same time, gain image capital.
  • this site will not only be a means of information, but also of connecting the stakeholders in the issue of corporate social responsibility: companies, banks, NGOs, educational institutions, communities in need, disadvantaged environments, etc. Through the site we will host announcements of entities that need help, so that legal entities who want to help can more easily find cases that may arouse their interest. The site will also host news about such actions of legal entities, helping them to raise awareness of their social involvement, the fact that they not only pursue profit, but feel responsible for the development of the communities that host them and help them to get this profit.
LIPOVA “KEY OF ARDEAL AND CUSTOMS OF MUREȘ”

LIPOVA “KEY OF ARDEAL AND CUSTOMS OF MUREȘ”

Located at the foot of the Zărand mountains, at the intersection of important trade routes that connect Banat with Transylvania, but also on the banks of the Mureș river, being a port, Lipova had an important economic, commercial and political role, which favored its social development, reaching the Middle Ages in “ample social formations and even a special luxury”. A papal deed from 1218 mentions a salt trade center, and there is also a port on the Mureş River.

„Due to its geographical position, Lipova effectively blocked the entrance to the Mureș Valley and at the same time dominated the main access roads in this region. This explains the important place it occupies in the defense system of Timisoara Banat and Transylvania against Ottoman attacks “

“The decline of Lipova’s rank is explained and closely followed the fate of the area, which became a territory disputed by the Ottoman Porte and the Habsburgs, a destiny that was far from favoring the ascending development of the city, eventually falling to the status of a fair, a status that could not be surpassed even in the nineteenth century, with all the economic and demographic progress recorded. “

Wine, history and myth in the Arad vineyard

Wine, history and myth in the Arad vineyard

Researching the history of the rural world and its mentality, we had the opportunity to find in archives and libraries information regarding the Miniș Măderat Vineyard and the Arad viticulture. We were amazed by the richness of this area, its tangible and intangible heritage, a world that has largely disappeared during the twentieth century. Knowing this information, in the last two years we have gathered the materials that have been synthesized in this volume. The work is based on information from the archives, but also from a series of works that have been written since the end of the 19th century, information from the press of the time is also added. In writing this work we also used numerous images to bring to attention a world that is endangered, mansions, castles and villas built since the eighteenth century that are now abandoned and ruined and waiting to be saved. We mention that the images come from various old monographic publications, but also from the pages of recent monographs, such as those of Păuliș and Covăsînț. Other images are from some collectors and we mention in this sense the two Arad collectors, Puiu Emilian Valea and Vasile Faur, whom we thank for the materials provided. There are also a number of materials identified on different sites and in different libraries. All this is a work whose main purpose is to recover a heritage on the verge of extinction. We hope that the work, through its information, can serve to capitalize on the local heritage and can help the economic and cultural development of the area.

THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE ROMANIAN CREDIT INSTITUTIONS FROM THE PARTS OF ARAD TO THE MODERNIZATION OF THE ROMANIN SOCIETY TILL THE FIRST WORLD WAR

THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE ROMANIAN CREDIT INSTITUTIONS FROM THE PARTS OF ARAD TO THE MODERNIZATION OF THE ROMANIN SOCIETY TILL THE FIRST WORLD WAR

The process of modernization of the Romanian society, started in the last two decades of the 19th century, accelerated at the beginning of the 20th century, as a result of the appearance in the rural area of numerous credit institutions and savings houses. An important role in the modernization process of the Romanian society in the parts of Arad was played by „Victoria”, a credit and savings institute joint stock company founded by a group of intellectuals in the area in 1887. At the beginning of the 20th century, „Victoria” was the second Romanian bank in AustriaHungary in size and contributed to the establishment of other credit institutions in the Romanian villages in the Arad Plain. Through the appearance of credit institutes, the elements of capitalism entered the rural Romanian world. Credit institutions in rural areas will stand out as some of the most important institutions that supported the needs of Romanian society, which was going through a process of modernization, but also faced a number of problems in the early twentieth century, when the Hungarian political class implemented the harshest denationalization measures.

A BRAND OF ARAD – THE MINIȘ CADARCA

A BRAND OF ARAD – THE MINIȘ CADARCA

Among the Arad brands, I stop at a famous wine, the Miniș Cadarca. Its history begins more than 250 years ago, when a nobleman who owned the Miniș estate knew how to capitalize on the natural resources of the area and through modern techniques for that era obtained a quality wine, which prevailed on major European markets. The beautiful story of this wine began in 1744, when thanks to the initiative of Count Antal Grassalkovich, red wine was first produced from raisined Cadarcă grapes. Since the end of the 18th century, this wine has been appreciated and consumed at the great noble courts. The success continued throughout the 19th century when the wine was awarded several times. It is currently a brand of the Arad vineyard, being produced and marketed by several companies.
